EDIT: This OCT has ended. We're sorry if you missed out, but it was such a grand adventure, who knows? We may host another one! :)
But if you're looking to join an OCT, this group lists a bunch of them: :iconoctfollowers:

END EDIT

----

We are officially having a group Original Character Tournament. If you are unsure what an Original Character Tournament (OCT) is please see this journal: unknown-artists-club.deviantar…

:bulletgreen:OCT Plot: unknown-artists-club.deviantar…

:bulletgreen:Locations: unknown-artists-club.deviantar…

:bulletgreen:To Enter: In order to audition for the OCT, you must submit an audition comic or a written audition to let us get to know your character and see how they got wrapped up in this competition. Did they sign themselves up? Did their greedy friend sign them up against their will to get a chance at the prize money they assume exists? Were they chosen by the powers that be? It's up to you! If you are unsure what your audition entry should look like, feel free to search for "Original Character Tournament Audition" in your DA search engine. Here are two good examples of an OCT audition comic: lifeandpasta.deviantart.com/ar… and riyami.deviantart.com/art/Rise…

Here’s a good example of a written audition: fav.me/d3fe2q8

Alongside your audition entry you must also enter a Character Sheet. The Character Sheet will be used as reference for the artists and writers battling your OC after the tournament begins. The Character Sheet template can be found here: drinkteaordie.deviantart.com/a…

Here is an example of a filled out sheet if you need any reference: fav.me/d3gahrc

Even if you are only writing for the OCT, you must draw the Front and Back of your competing OC in the Character Sheet for others to reference. You may commission these images if you wish as long as you have permission from the artist. Please credit them in your artist’s comments.

Once you defeat your opponent, feel free to loot one item from their inventory (and be certain they haven't lost/used up/broken it already). Keep in mind not to overpower your character or have them carry too many items or weapons in their inventory. And don’t forget that your character can, and probably will, run out of ammo eventually. Choose weapons and use ammunition wisely. Auditioning will be open for six weeks, and we can only accept sixty-four participants maximum.

:bulletgreen:Unknown-Artists-Club's OCT Auditions open on: Saturday, 14th May

:bulletgreen:Unknown-Artists-Club's OCT Auditions end on: Saturday, 25th June

:bulletgreen:Community Code of Conduct. By joining this OCT you agree to:
:bulletblue:Respect others and remain courteous. :bulletblue:Work to create a welcoming, friendly environment. :bulletblue:Enable your fellow participants to grow and evolve. :bulletblue:Avoid publicly speculating on the outcome of any match or round, on the grounds that it is disrespectful to the competitors [that goes for audience members as well].

**Failure to comply by this agreement may result in your disqualification from the OCT.**

:bulletgreen:Rules:
:bulletblue:Each round is four weeks long. You have four weeks to complete and submit your entries. You will be given the location you'll be fighting in, character sheet for the character you're fighting, and date your entry is due. In order to make up for time zones, I won't officially close the folder until I log in the day after the submission deadline, so you do have a little wiggle room with your entries. However, this time will fly by fast! So manage your time well. A good idea would be to start thinking of ideas the first week, start doodling/story boarding/rough drafting the second week, start sketching/refining your entry during the third week, and start correcting grammar/finalizing and adding finishing touches to your entry the fourth week. :bulletblue:One character per member/entrant. NO fan characters. We want you to use characters you have created and belong solely to you and their universe. This means no characters you created that live in existing video game, anime, movie, book, or television universes. You also may not use another person's original character. There are no exceptions to this. :bulletblue:Characters can use familiars, summons, doppelgangers, split personalities, etc. But do not go overboard! Your character can have a traveling companion (such as a best friend or loyal pet), but keep in mind the fight in the entry needs to seem at least somewhat fair. And no character is invincible! It is much more fun to read if your character takes a punch or two. If your character does have a traveling companion who is human (or the same race as your competing OC) you must complete another character sheet for this character. If they have an animal companion who will not be fighting, reserve the "Other" section of your OC's character sheet to mention anything you need to about them. :bulletblue:Both drawn/comic and written entries are accepted, as well as a mix of both mediums. This includes illustrated story, flash animation, etc. Comic entries do not need to be in color, but please be sure we are able to clearly understand what is happening in your entry and can easily read the dialogue. And for written entries we appreciate a minimum of 700 words (and a maximum of about 5,000 words, though it's just fine if you go a little over :)). :bulletblue:All works by you in this competition must have been created for this competition. Please mention in your Artist's Comments that the artwork/entry is specifically for this OCT. :bulletblue:Keep in mind that you may not get selected to enter this competition. But we wish you the best of luck! For information on what admins will look for when judging auditions and competition entries, please see here: unknown-artists-club.deviantar… :bulletblue:Admins can join in the OCT if they wish, but they will be barred from judging the entire competition. :bulletblue:Anyone can offer prizes. If you wish to donate a prize, please leave a comment or send the group a note. Thank you. :bulletblue:There will be one winner, one runner up, and one member's choice. These three will be awarded fabulous prizes, and the last OC standing will win the title of Champion!

:bulletgreen:Member's Choice: Member's Choice is where one of the entries submitted throughout the entire OCT is selected/voted for as the group favorite by the members of the group. Voting for this will come at the end of the OCT. Members will vote simply by leaving a comment stating their favorite entry throughout the tournament, and the votes will be tallied up. You may not vote for yourself.

:bulletgreen:Judging: Judging will be done by the non-competing admins as well as four volunteer judges. We will discuss each audition and entry, and will announce the winners one week after the rounds close. Our four guest judges are: :icontheshadowsstrike::icontakiyume::iconjazzsiyart::iconsimpuruu-hime:

**Special thanks to tarantellino and Riyami for allowing us to use their OCT auditions as visual aids. And a special thanks to RobinRone for allowing us to use her Code of Conduct guidelines.**
